What is stud-type terminal block?
The stud-type terminal block is a special type of device that is preferred for applications where the connections are subjected to severe vibrations. Thanks to its exceptional design, the nuts are captive in a pivoting wing and provide convenient wiring of ring lugs.
Stud-type terminal blocks are preferred for applications using wires of large cross-sections. The wire is crimped to a ring/fork lug and is screwed onto the flat current bar of the terminal block. With stud terminal blocks, it is possible to make a safe and robust connection in harsh conditions.
How does the stud connection work?
Cable lugs are crimped onto the wire ends to connect the wires. The cable lugs are put on between the washer on the clamp support and the thrust washer on the stud. The backsides of the cable lugs are positioned against each other. As the hex nut is tightened, the cable lugs press against each other to form a secure contact.

Installation of stud terminal block
When installing a stud terminal block, follow the below procedure:
1-Remove screw/nut by using a wrench/hex nut driver.
2-Place cable with ring/fork cable lug on the stud.
3-Tighten screw/nut to specified torque by using a wrench/hex nut driver.
Safety precautions for stud terminal block
- Remove power to the terminal blocks before starting installation, removal, wiring, maintenance, and inspection of the products. Failure to remove power may cause electrical shocks.
- For wiring, use wires of the proper size to meet voltage and current requirements. Tighten the terminal screws to the recommended tightening torque. Failure to tighten the terminal screws may cause overheating and fire. Also, the screws may become loose due to vibrations. Tighten regularly.
- For large capacity types, take into consideration the tension of the wires and tightening torque and make sure that the crimping terminals are not twisted.
- Grooves on the head of the hex bolt, for large capacity types, are for temporary tightening. For proper tightening, use an applicable socket wrench and tighten within the range of the recommended tightening torque.
- Use an insulated crimping terminal.
